Holiday shopping season opens early — and locally — on Saturday, November 7, when the City of Post Falls hosts the 8th Annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free, parking is free, and for Black Bay Village residents there's a special reason to go: one of the fair's two locations is Black Bay Depot, 1211 E. 3rd Avenue — right in our neighborhood.
The second location is the Trailhead Event Center at Q'emiln Park (12361 W. Parkway Drive), so you can browse both venues in a single outing. Dozens of local vendors and artisans set up booths with handmade gifts, holiday décor, ornaments, jewelry, seasonal treats, and one-of-a-kind finds you won't see in a big-box store.
The case for shopping the fair is simple: every dollar spent with a local crafter stays in the local economy, and handmade gifts carry a thoughtfulness that mass-produced items can't match. Start your holiday list early and you'll actually enjoy December instead of dreading it.
A few tips for fair day: bring a tote bag or two, wear comfortable shoes if you're visiting both locations, and bring cash along with cards — some vendors prefer it. If you see something you love, don't assume it will be there on a return trip; handmade means limited quantities.
If you're a maker yourself, note that the City runs a vendor application process through its Parks & Recreation department — worth remembering for next year if the crafting bug bites.
Mark Saturday, November 7, 9 AM to 3 PM. Two locations, free entry, local makers, and the Black Bay Depot practically in the backyard. Shop local, shop early, and enjoy the fair.
One more reason to arrive early: the best handmade pieces move fast. The first hour gives you first pick of ornaments, wreaths, and the seasonal treats that sell out by noon — and you'll still be home in time for a fall afternoon at the village.
